Keep Going
Writer's Life
Hi, friends! I hope you’re having a great weekend. After a couple of dry weeks, we finally got much-needed rain yesterday. Among the benefits, is that with the air cleansed, my eyes aren’t so scratchy and my nose isn’t so stuffy.
It’s an apt metaphor for coping with the world at large, I think. Sometimes, bad news keeps piling up, day after day, like long stretches without rain. We put up with it, keep going about our business, but eventually the conditions start to affect us.
Physically, mentally, emotionally.
It can be hard to be creative when we don’t feel good, or are stressed out, or emotionally drained. That’s when a cleanse, a change, a distraction sure comes in handy.
Something that breaks up the grind of negativity.
It could be finally checking out a show you’ve been meaning to watch. Or, it could be taking a walk after a rain and breathing in that dust-free air. A few moments of silent meditation is always good, too.
I don’t know about you, but after taking that break, I feel better. More energized, like the plants in the garden that are refreshed from the rain.
Ready to get creative.
Because the world needs our creativity, friends. People need the escape, the break from the grind, that we provide.
So, be kind to yourselves and take that break in the routine. And when breaktime is over, let’s get back to what we love to do. Let’s keep going. Let’s keep writing.
Tell me, what do you do when you need a break from grind? Until next time, keep at it and bubbles up!

These are hard days. I appreciate your comment to Nancy that “we’re all in this together.” It was a good reminder at a great time. Thanks, J.C.
Thank you for this reminder. So many times, I get bogged down by the news, life, and let downs. There are times when I need to dive into a story and escape. It’s what gets me through any trying times and emerge whole. I urge writers to do what they need to do to rejuvenate their soul and then create magic with words.
